The Historic Buildings: Elliot Treatment Works Building

History

The Elliott Water Treatment Works Building, located in the southern part of the Centennial Campus, is a three-story structure built in 1930 to house water filtration equipment. It is a typical example of early 20th century water works infrastructure and is an integral part of the history of water supplies in Hong Kong.

The structure has a simple plan form with interlocking levels. Salient characteristics of this building include the overall architectonic form of the three-level and two-level sections of the building. The reinforced concrete space frame of beams and columns are also of particular cultural significance.
